Diplomatic Academy of Vienna - Joint Hike: 800m Ascent, 15km Trek

Description:
Join Diplomatic Academy students for an advanced hike from Payerbach to the Raxseilbahn bus stop, featuring the Mariensteig and Miesleitensteig trails. There will be a lunch break at a hut. We’ll return via the scenic Wiener Wasserleitungsweg, then take a bus back to Payerbach.

This hike includes an elevation gain of 800 meters, covering a total distance of 15 kilometres.

This hike is organised by the Diplomatic Academy Hiking Club.

Route:
Payerbach – Mariensteig – Naturfreundehaus Knofeleben – Miesleitensteig – 1st Wiener Wasserleitungsweg – Bus back to Payerbach

Meet:
7:30/45 am at Wien Hauptbahnhof OR 9:05 am at Payerbach-Reichenau Bahnhof

Return:
To Wien Hauptbahnhof between 18:30 and 19:00

Cost:
Train: 21.60€ one way (43.20€ in total); cheaper with Vienna Annual Pass & Bus: 2.40€
Cash for food & drinks at the “Naturfreundehaus Knofeleben”.

Note:
Sturdy hiking boots with good grip needed, dress in layers to accommodate changing weather and bring a waterproof jacket in case of rain. Hiking poles are recommended for added stability on the steeper sections.

Pack snacks and water for the hike but note that we will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch at Naturfreundehaus Knofeleben. A small first-aid kit and fully charged mobile phone are recommended for safety.
