Description:
We will have a moderate (but strenuous enough to induce thirst and hunger) hike for about two hours. Our route will include the “20-Schilling View” of the UNESCO World Heritage Semmering railway. The trail offers stunning views of the Rax, Schneeberg, Weinzettlwand, Pfefferwand, and even the Pannonian Plains in the distance. It’s summertime, so remember to bring plenty of water!

The destination will be the Semmering Fire House and the annual fundraising fest for the volunteer firefighters. A donation will be requested for entry. Raffle tickets are for sale with the drawing at around 16h00. Local residents serve reasonably priced grilled sausages, roasted chicken, and draft beer.

Live music scheduled in the afternoon will include Klara, the youngest-ever, world-champion Steirische Harmonika player, and her two brothers, Bruno & Felix. You may be inspired to show off your best polka moves, even in hiking shoes!

The Semmering Bahnhof is an easy 25-minute walk from the firehouse where the festivities take place.

Cost:
The standard one-way Meidling-Semmering train ticket is € 25,30 (Roundtrip € 50,60)
For those who would like to join with others for an Einfach Raus group ticket covering the round trip (two persons € 36, three persons € 40, four persons € 44, five persons € 48), please arrive at the Meidling ticket machines at 9h15. I will be available to help organize the groups and buy the tickets.
