Bicycle trip to Marchfeld

Description: The Marchfeldkanal, a waterway built in the 1980ies, ensures the region East of Vienna with water supply and is essential for Vienna’s vegetable garden. In the region of Deutsch Wagram battles against Napoleon took place. We shall visit the Museum that provides a good documentation of this period.

Route: Donauinsel – Jedlesee – Marchfeldkanal – Deutsch Wagram (train). Ca. 25 km, all flat. If this is not enough we can cycle back via the Canal to Leopoldau (U1), another 15 km.

Meet: At 10 a.m. at the U6 Station Neue Donau

Return: Late afternoon, either by train from Deutsch Wagram or U1 from Leopoldau

Cost: Lunch and train

Registration: By 9 May

Note: Dress according to weather. Make sure that your bicycle is in good shape. Do not bring bicycle with small wheels. Lunch will be taken in a Gasthaus in Deutsch Wagram, bring along drinks.
