Description: Cycling along the Danube, mostly on asphalt bike paths, with limited car traffic, to visit the magnificent medieval castle ( https://burgkreuzenstein.com/ ) . Guided tours in German only, however, a 2 page tour sheet in English is available. The tour starts on the hour and lasts between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the group.

Route: Donauinsel/ Reichsbrücke – Langenzersdorf – Tuttendörfl – Korneuburg – Leobendorf/Burg Kreuzenstein – Ferry boat – restaurant Fischerin – Kritzendorf – Klosterneuburg- Schwedenplatz

Meet: 10:00 at Lighthouse tower (Leuchtturm), located near the Reichsbrücke on the Donauinsel or at 10:15 at the Neue Donau U6 station.

Return: At about 17:00 or later depending on time spent at restaurant.

Cost: €15 euros to enter castle (CASH PAYMENT ONLY) with guide tour (German only); €5 for the ferry boat to cross the Danube (CASH PAYMENT ONLY) on the return trip, plus €20 to €30 at restaurant Fischerin (CASH PAYMENT ONLY) (https://diefischerin.at/). Registration: : As soon as possible but no later than Friday, 11 August, 12:00 hours. Please note that reservations at the restaurant can be difficult to secure.

Note: BEWARE: To reach the castle, the last half kilometer is the most challenging and requires an accent of about 150-200 meters. Participants should be in good health and physical condition..

Helmet recommended, bring a LOCK for your bike, dress according to weather, bring water, shade from sun will be limited.

Make sure your bike and brakes are in good condition.
Group should maintain an average pace of about 15 to 20 km per hour.
