Description: We shall pass by the castles of Schlosshof and Niederweiden (residence and hunting castle of Price Eugene of Savoy). Along the Danube biking trail we shall reach Eckartsau castle, where the last emperor of Austria resided before going to exile in Switzerland (1919). If there is enough interest we can organize a guided tour through the castle. Late lunch in Orth an der Donau (Fisch Restaurant).
CYCLING AT MODERATE PACE (15-20 km/hour)!

Route: Marchegg – Schlosshof – Niederweiden – Engelhartstetten – Stopfenreuth – Eckartsau – Orth – Schönau – Vienna (U2 Donaustadtbrücke) or Reichsbrücke

Meet: At 8:45 Floridsdorf station (U6 and SBahn), main hall, near ticket office. Train to Marchegg departs at 9:02

Return: By U2 (Donaustadtbrücke) or Reichsbrücke (U1)

Cost: Train fare and bicycle transport ca. EUR 15; plus entrance Eckartsau castle (ca. EUR 15), lunch at Orth.

Registration: By 3 September 2025; please incidate, upon registration, whether you want to visit Eckartsau (to order a guided tour, at least 5 participants necessary) and whether you would like to ear in the fish restaurant in Orth – has to be ordered in advance.

Note: Please make sure that your bicycle is in good state. Bring drink and snacks.
